Georgette LeBlanc

Georgette LeBlanc was born in 1977 in Chicaben (Pointe-de-l’Église), in the region of Baie Sainte-Marie, Nova Scotia. After completing a master’s degree on the evolution of traditional music at the Baie Sainte-Marie, she completed a doctorate in French studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, under the direction of the poet and Cajun ethnomusicologist Barry Jean Ancelet. She hosted several writing workshops in various educational institutions, and she instructed courses at the Université Sainte-Anne, Nova Scotia, where she has been a professor since September 2007.

Georgette LeBlanc was very young when she started her theatrical training, including Les Araignées du boui-boui, in Nova Scotia, as well as l’École de mime Omnibus, in Montreal. As a dancer, she participated in performances, and festivals in the Americas, France and Norway.
