Mary Vingoe is an award-winning Nova Scotian theatre artist who works as a writer, director, dramaturge and actor. She has also been the creative force and founder of four major theatres in Canada, including two theatres in Nova Scotia. She is the founding Artistic Director of the Magnetic North Theatre Festival at Canada’s National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Playwrights Canada Press published her play Living Curiosities in 2011 and her recent directing credits include Wendy Lill’s The Glace Bay Miner’s Museum at The National Arts Centre and Neptune Theatres.
In addition to her aforementioned work, she has taught at Dalhousie, St. Mary’s, York University, Guelph University, the University of Alberta, Mount Allison University, and the National Theatre School of Canada.
Ms. Vingoe has received Theatre Nova Scotia’s Merit Award, the Portia White Award and the Companion of the Order of Canada in recognition of her contributions to theatre in Canada.
