Shelley Thompson

Shelley Thompson, Writer/Director Dawn, Her Dad and the Tractor. Shelley is a Wolfville based performer and writer Thompson trained at the UK’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, the Canadian Film Centre, and the Women In the Director’s Chair. Dawn, Her Dad and the Tractor was selected by the Meryl Streep/Nicole Kidman NY Writers Lab, and for the Breaking Through The Lens initiative, In Cannes 2019. 

Thompson’s short films – Dawg, Pearls, Bats and Duck Duck Goose have played festivals internationally. Duck Duck Goose explored the impact of school lockdowns and won Best Short at FIN; was selected for Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent at Clermont-Ferrand; and was a finalist in CBC’s Short Film FaceOff. 

Thompson’s TV/film performances include numerous award-winning performances including Michael Melski’s The Child Remains and Thom Fitzgerald’s Splinters (TIFF 2018). Her second feature Bouquet was shortlisted in March 2022 by the TIFF/CBC Screenwriters Competition. A champion of LGBTQ issues, she’s parent to Singer/Songwriter T. Thompson.
